Patricia Burchat Sheds Light on Dark Matter

by Neale McDavitt-Van Fleet

Here’s physicist Patricia Burchat with an enlightening look at dark matter from the TED conference. She’s a fantastic communicator, and makes one of the most compelling explanations of the subject I’ve ever heard.

I think Dark Matter is a pretty good explanation for what we’re seeing but my instinct is telling me that we’re simply missing some fundamental understanding on cosmological gravitatation rather than this missing mass. I admit that the theories out there to modify gravity are pretty lame and while I’m convinced that there’s “something” we’re missing, I’m not sure it’s matter.

As for Dark Energy, it’s totally made up and there are no good theories I even come close to liking. I think some serious observing needs to be done first before we can start getting some serious math.
